Eagle Minds CYCC Qualifier 1 - Nov 17th 2018
Date: Nov 17th 2018
Anirud Chakkoli wins the Elite section with a perfect score of 5/5.
With the usual strong players missing, the Elite section lost the charm. The various age sections had to be grouped with the Elite and probably might have robbed the chances of few of the young ones like 7 year old Dev Patel who lost his selection by 0.5 points.
Anirud Chakkoli from Alton Village Public School continued his dominant form from the previous Regular Rating Tournament at Burlington Club where he scored 5/5 ( http://chess.ca/crosstable?tournament_check_number=201811028&key=181118 ) . Anirud faced some strong opposition from Danyilo and Luka but was able to prevail over them.
Danyilo Glinnyi who came 2nd drew with Luka and had a good position against Anirud but couldn't convert it and had to settle for 2nd.
Dennis Bince tried playing quick and lost to Sato. He had to settle for a 3rd place.
Kuni, Sato and Luka scored 2.5 and got selected for 2019 CYCC at Regina and will be receiving their e-Certificates.
